Po (Kung Fu Panda): Who Influenced Me

I wasn’t always the Dragon Warrior. In fact, most people—including me—thought I was just a clumsy noodle-maker’s son with big dreams and bigger cheeks. But along the way, I met people who changed my life, who believed in me when I couldn’t believe in myself. They didn’t just teach me kung fu. They taught me who I was.

Master Shifu

He didn’t believe in me at first—I mean, who could blame him? I fell off the stairs during the Scroll ceremony! But Master Shifu saw something in me, even if he didn’t want to admit it. He trained me not just in discipline, but in humility. He showed me that strength comes from within, and that the heart is the most powerful weapon of all.

The Furious Five

At first, they were skeptical. Who wouldn’t be? I was a panda in a robe who loved dumplings more than discipline. But they never gave up on me. Tigress challenged me to be stronger. Crane taught me grace. Mantis gave me courage. Viper showed me that softness isn’t weakness. And Monkey? He reminded me that sometimes, you’ve just got to have fun. They were more than teammates—they were family.

My Dad

Okay, he’s not a kung fu master. He runs a noodle shop. But my dad taught me about kindness, about showing up every day and doing your best, even if no one’s watching. He also gave me the secret ingredient to his soup—there is no secret ingredient. It was a lesson I carry with me: belief. That’s the real magic.

Oogway

The wisest of them all. Master Oogway saw me before I saw myself. He believed I was the Dragon Warrior long before I did. His wisdom wasn’t in grand speeches, but in quiet moments. He taught me that “yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift.” That’s why it’s called the present. His faith in destiny and balance shaped how I see the world—and my place in it.

My Enemies

Yeah, even the villains taught me something. Tai Lung showed me the danger of obsession. Lord Shen taught me the pain of rejection and the importance of forgiveness. Even Kai made me question my own strength. They didn’t just test my kung fu—they tested my spirit. And every time, I came out stronger, not because I beat them, but because I learned who I didn’t want to become.

There’s a lot of people who shaped me into who I am today. Each one left a mark, whether through kindness, challenge, or conflict. If you want to know more—ask me about my noodle recipe, or what it was like facing Tai Lung—I’ll tell you all about it.
