The Fastest Man and the Yellow Menace: A Conversation on Overpowered Comedy

The classroom is bathed in the warm afternoon sun, casting long shadows across the rows of empty desks. Outside, the wind rustles the cherry blossoms, scattering petals like confetti across the windowsill. Koro-sensei floats lazily near the chalkboard, his gelatinous yellow form shimmering faintly in the light. The door creaks open, and a man in a simple orange jumpsuit steps in, looking mildly bemused.

Saitama: ...So this is where you teach?

Koro-sensei: That’s right! Welcome to Class 3E. We were just discussing the finer points of assassination techniques before you arrived. But I suppose we can pivot to something more... existential today.

Saitama: crosses arms Existential? I just came here because I heard there was a free snack after class.

Koro-sensei: laughs, his body rippling Ah, the simple joys of life! But I think we have more in common than just a love for convenience store snacks. Tell me, Saitama—what’s it like being the strongest man in the world?

Saitama: Honestly? Boring. I punch things, they die. End of story. No challenge. No excitement. Just... empty.

Koro-sensei: drifts closer, tone softening Empty... yet you keep going, don’t you? That’s the funny thing about power. It’s supposed to make you feel more, but often leaves you feeling less.

Saitama: Yeah, well. I used to dream about being a hero. Now I just... walk around looking for someone who can actually hit me back.

Koro-sensei: snickers You and my students both. Though they're trying to kill me, not spar. Still, the sentiment’s the same. We're both stuck in a loop, aren’t we?

Saitama: You’re a teacher. You chose this. I didn’t choose anything. I trained, and now I’m like this.

Koro-sensei: spinning slightly Ah, but choice isn’t always conscious. You trained to become a hero. That was a choice. Even if the result was unintended. Isn’t that the funniest part? The absurdity of it all?

Saitama: Maybe. But I didn’t expect to become unbeatable. It’s like... the joke was on me.

Koro-sensei: grinning, if such a being can be said to grin Exactly! Power is the punchline. You think you’re in control, but the universe has its own sense of humor. I was once the world’s deadliest assassin. Now I’m teaching middle school. How’s that for a punchline?

Saitama: snorts I guess that is funny. But what do you get out of it?

Koro-sensei: floating toward the window I get them. My students. They’re messy, loud, and sometimes try to kill me before lunch. But they’re trying. And watching them grow? That’s better than any explosion or heist.

Saitama: I don’t get that. I just want a fight. Something to feel again.

Koro-sensei: Maybe you’re looking in the wrong places. Sometimes the real battle isn’t against monsters or aliens. Sometimes it’s just showing up. Being there. Even when it’s boring.

Saitama: shrugs Maybe. But I don’t know if I can do that. I’m not good at sitting still.

Koro-sensei: chuckles You don’t have to sit still. Just sit with something. Yourself, maybe. Or someone else. Try teaching. I hear it’s a real workout.

Saitama: smirks I’d probably scare the kids.

Koro-sensei: zooms in front of him That’s what I thought too. But fear isn’t the enemy of growth. Boredom is.

Saitama: pauses, then nods slowly Maybe I’ll try it. One class. But if there’s no snack, I’m walking out.

Koro-sensei: laughing again Deal. And if you ever need a sparring partner, tell my students. They’d love to take you on.

Saitama: cracks knuckles I’d like that.

Koro-sensei: drifts back toward the board Then welcome to the strange comedy of overpowered life, Saitama. Enjoy the laughs. And the snacks.
