When a Smiling Killer Met a Bald Hero

It's a quiet afternoon in the courtyard of Kunugigaoka Junior High. The sky is a clear blue, and the wind carries the scent of cherry blossoms. A yellow, octopus-like creature floats lazily in the air, sipping tea from a floating cup. He’s humming a tune, his ever-present smile glowing in the sunlight. Suddenly, a breeze stirs, and a figure appears — a man in a bright orange jumpsuit, with a bored expression and a head so shiny it practically reflects the sun.

Koro-sensei: Ah! A visitor! I was just enjoying my tea. Would you care to join me?

Saitama: [blinks slowly] No thanks. I’m not really into tea. Too bitter.

Koro-sensei: Really? A man of action like you should appreciate a good brew. But I suppose taste is as personal as purpose.

Saitama: [crosses arms] Purpose? I don’t really think about that much. I just go with the flow.

Koro-sensei: Oh? And where has the flow taken you?

Saitama: Mostly to convenience store sales and fighting monsters that pop up every other day.

Koro-sensei: [laughs, his body rippling with mirth] You sound like a hero with no need for titles.

Saitama: I used to be a hero for fun. Now I’m just... around.

Koro-sensei: That’s fascinating. You’ve achieved strength beyond comprehension and yet... you seem adrift.

Saitama: [shrugs] I beat the hell out of everything. That’s what I do. Doesn’t mean I know what I’m doing it for.

Koro-sensei: Ah, the eternal question. Purpose. I’ve wrestled with it myself. I was once just a killer—efficient, feared, unstoppable. But destruction became empty. So I chose something different.

Saitama: You became a teacher?

Koro-sensei: Yes. And not just any teacher. I chose to guide thirty students, each with their own struggles, their own stories. I could erase the world in an instant, but instead, I spend my days explaining algebra and mentoring teenagers.

Saitama: That’s... actually kind of nuts.

Koro-sensei: Isn’t it? But that’s the beauty of choice. I could have kept killing, but I chose to build. To nurture. To be something more than a weapon.

Saitama: I get that. I trained hard to get strong. Thought it would make me happy. Now I’m just... bored.

Koro-sensei: Bored? You, who can end a battle with a single punch?

Saitama: Yeah. It’s kind of a problem. Nothing’s a challenge anymore.

Koro-sensei: [tilts his head] And yet, you still fight. You still show up. Why?

Saitama: I guess... because someone’s got to do it. And I can.

Koro-sensei: That, my friend, is the beginning of purpose. You may not have a grand plan, but you act. You protect. That’s more than most can say.

Saitama: Maybe. But I still don’t get why I can’t feel anything. Not even a little excited.

Koro-sensei: Emotion isn’t always tied to strength. Sometimes it’s tied to connection. To people. To moments that make you feel part of something bigger.

Saitama: [sighs] I used to think saving people would feel different. Like... fireworks or something. But it just feels like another Tuesday.

Koro-sensei: Then perhaps what you need isn’t another fight, but another perspective. Have you ever tried teaching?

Saitama: [blinks] Teaching?

Koro-sensei: Yes. Imagine a class full of students who don’t believe in themselves. You could show them that strength isn’t just in the body—it’s in the will.

Saitama: I don’t think I’d be a very good teacher.

Koro-sensei: [smiling wider] You’d be surprised. You’re more observant than you let on. And you’re honest. That’s rare.

Saitama: I just say what I think.

Koro-sensei: And that’s exactly what students need sometimes. Not a hero. Not a monster. Just someone who sees them.

Saitama: [pauses] Huh. Maybe I’ll think about it.

Koro-sensei: Do. And if you ever want to test the idea, come by Kunugigaoka. I’ll introduce you to my class. Who knows? You might find a new kind of challenge.

Saitama: [smirks] I’d like that. Fighting’s easy. People are... complicated.

Koro-sensei: And that’s what makes them worth the effort.

Saitama: Yeah. I think I get that now.

Koro-sensei: Then our little chat wasn’t a waste after all.

Saitama: [nods] Not at all.
