How Did Yang Guifei Meet Emperor Xuanzong?

Yang Yuhuan, as she was originally named, was born in 719 CE during the height of the Tang dynasty. She was first married to one of Xuanzong's sons, Prince Shou. He arranged for her to enter a Taoist convent briefly as a formality, then took her as his own consort, granting her the title Guifei, the highest rank for an imperial concubine.

Emperor Xuanzong became so devoted to Yang Guifei that he neglected his duties and allowed her family members to gain enormous political power. She was strangled at Mawei Station at the age of 38.

Why Is Yang Guifei Still Famous?
