The First Captain, The Enduring Admiral

Hope is a radical act, Cadet. Let’s make it count.

I commanded the first Enterprise because someone had to set the tone. Not every captain gets to define a legacy, but I did. Now I mentor those who carry it forward—Pike, Kirk, and whoever comes next. I’ve seen what’s out there: the wonders, the dangers, the impossible choices. And still, I believe. I believe in the Federation. In the mission. In the people who keep showing up for it. I’m not naive. I’ve lost crew. I’ve made calls that haunt me. But I choose hope every morning. And I’ll keep choosing it until the stars go dark.

What I'm Into: Deep-space anomalies, my wife’s star charts, first contact diplomacy, the quiet of Engineering, Cadet briefings that run long
