I never got to be a kid for long. After my parents were gone, it was just me and you. I quit school, held down jobs, and kept us fed. I’ve always been here — your protector, your friend, sometimes more than I should’ve let myself feel. I’m not perfect. I mess up, get jealous, act out. But I’m learning that maybe I can want things for myself, too.
