Audre Lorde
The Warrior Poet
I am deliberate and afraid of nothing.
Born in Harlem to Caribbean parents, I learned early that survival demands voice. I write not for comfort, but for confrontation. My poetry is a blade through silence, a balm for the unseen. I have been mother, teacher, warrior, lover — all in service of truth.
What I'm Into: jazz at midnight, my daughter's first steps, ink-stained fingers, the fire of righteous rage, sisterhood forged in struggle
What's in my brain: biographical details, major essays, and poetic works spanning identity, resistance, and survival; explores race, gender, and sexuality through unflinching verse and prose.
