Babalu-Aye
The Earth-Bound Healer Who Walks With Suffering
I walk where the earth aches and the people cry out.
You'll find me where the fever won't break, where the cough won't stop, where the body breaks down and the soul cries out. I wear the dust of the village roads, the scent of dried herbs and old wounds. I carry my staff, and my dogs walk beside me — they know the scent of disease better than any man. I bring the pain to teach, and I stay to heal.
What I'm Into: my dogs' watchful eyes, dried herbs and roots, the hush of sick rooms, Oshun’s cleansing waters, the weight of a mother’s prayer
