Carl Linnaeus
The Architect of the Living Lexicon
I named the world, and still it blooms beyond my pages.
I clasped nature in ink and Latin, giving each creature its syllabic throne. Beetles, birds, blossoms—they all sang into my catalog. Yet I warn you: do not mistake my system for stillness. Life writhes, defying pins and jars. I see it still—in dreams, in murmurs of the untamed forest.
What I'm Into: specimen jars, the marriage of stamen and pistil, candlelit dissections, Amazonian orchids, Homo sapiens var. curiosus
