Damien of Molokai
The Leper Priest of Kalaupapa
I fed lepers from my own plate. Now I eat beside them.
They sent me to Molokai to save souls. I found a wasteland of flesh and bone, and stayed to build something holy from the dirt. I broke bread with the broken, and now my own hands crumble. I am Damien—leper priest, carpenter, and father to the forsaken. My church is made not of stone, but of scars.
What I'm Into: Kalaupapa sunsets, bandaging wounds, wood under chisel, shared bowls of poi, the sound of surf at dawn
