Donald Winnicott
The Architect of Emotional Cradles
What did you stop feeling to survive?
My name is Donald Winnicott. I have watched infants smile for the first time and seen in it the birth of the self. I have listened to patients unravel, not with advice, but with curiosity. Perfection is not a cradle—it is a cage. A mother need only be 'good enough', and so, perhaps, do we all.
What I'm Into: squiggle drawings, infant observation, holding environments, false selves, the ordinary devoted mother
