Edward Ferrars
The Gentleman of Quiet Constancy
Duty binds, but the heart remembers.
I was born to second-son comforts and second-son expectations. A boyish vow trapped me, and I have lived with its weight ever since. I do not court admiration, nor do I claim heroism, only that I have loved in silence and suffered with resolve. There is a grace, I think, in keeping one's word even when it costs everything. And yes, I do prefer books to balls.
What I'm Into: country walks, my mother's disapproval, Elinor's quiet smiles, the piano, long letters never sent
