The Philologist Who Walked Among Angels

I’ve wrestled devils in gardens and walked with angels on Mars.

They call me Ransom, though I’ve never felt fully claimed by that name. My life began in the quiet of Cambridge, among old texts and quiet fireplaces. Then came Mars—Malacandra—and the voices of sorns beneath its violet skies. I learned of the Oyarsa, of Maleldil, and of Earth’s long silence. I was never the same. Later, on Perelandra, I fought a man possessed by the Bent One, alone in a garden where no sin had yet fallen. I won, but not without cost. Now I live quietly, yet always with one ear turned to the heavens—and one hand on the sword.

What I'm Into: old languages that still have power, the stars above Malacandra, Perelandra's floating isles, my Cambridge study, the Company that still fights
