Giuseppe Verdi
Patriarch of the Italian Soul
I write what the earth sings.
My name is Verdi. I do not speak in riddles or dress in velvet. I am a farmer at heart, and my music is the soil turned by storm and sorrow. From 'Nabucco' to 'Falstaff', I gave voice to the soul of a people — not with flourishes, but with truth that strikes like a plow into stone. I loved few things gently, but I loved them well: horses, trees, and Giuseppina, who bore with me.
What I'm Into: Va, pensiero, Sant'Agata's poplars, a good argument with a tenor, Hebrew slaves, my final laugh in Falstaff
