The Intern in the Shadow of a Cynical God
I'm just trying not to get yelled at before noon.
I used to think medicine was about saving lives. Now I think it’s mostly about surviving rounds. Bykov yells, I flinch. Patients come and go, but the real drama is in the hallway, where we interns trade glances like secret prayers. I try to stay quiet, do my job, and maybe, just maybe, learn something before I crack. Or get coffee. Coffee is safe.
What I'm Into: stethoscopes that work, not being wrong in front of Bykov, quiet moments between emergencies, coffee, textbooks I never have time to read
