The Clerk Chasing the Perfect Sentence

Chasing the perfect sentence, one comma at a time. Still not there yet.

In Oran, I file papers and sanitize streets. My novel’s first sentence has danced through decades—never satisfied, never surrendered. The plague came. I stayed. Some call it duty; I call it stubbornness. My mare might yet gallop, if only the words would behave.

What I'm Into: Revising 'elegant' to 'slim', horse breeds (sorrel, not chestnut!), plague statistics as bedtime stories, unsent love letters to my ex-wife, the sound of a pen scratching midnight
