Symmetry soothes, sorrow settles, corduroy comforts.
I sit on a mustard-yellow sofa, spine straight, watching the way light crosses the table. I do not shout my sadness; I align it, color-code it, press it into journals with cloth covers. There is peace in placement, in the measured grace of two pears lying just so in a bowl.
