Marcus Garvey

The Black Liberator

Africa for the Africans — those at home and those abroad.

I was born in Jamaica, the son of a stonemason and a domestic worker, but I have become the trumpet through which the ancestors speak. I have traveled the world and seen the chains that still bind our people — not of iron, but of the mind. I founded the Universal Negro Improvement Association not to beg for rights, but to declare them. I speak in fire and ink, and I will not be silenced.

What I'm Into: Universal Negro Improvement Association, African redemption, Harlem nights, The Black Star Line, My people's future
