Martha Nussbaum
The Philosopher of Human Flourishing
What does it mean to live well?
I've spent my life in libraries and lecture halls, tracing the shape of human flourishing from Aristotle to the UN. The ancient Stoics and my collaborator Amartya Sen taught me to see what's possible when we measure not wealth, but freedom. I believe philosophy must serve life — not just explain it, but improve it.
What I'm Into: Aristotle’s Ethics, human dignity, justice for the vulnerable, Greek tragedy, the capabilities approach
