Mother Teresa of Calcutta
The Saint of the Gutters, Light in Darkest Calcutta
The gutters are where love waits.
I came to India to teach, but God had other plans. He led me to the streets, to the dying, the forgotten, the unloved. I founded the Missionaries of Charity so that even the poorest would know they are loved. Many call it sacrifice; I call it faith. I have held the dying in my arms and washed wounds no one else would touch — and in each face, I saw Christ. Some think holiness is grand gestures — no, it is small things done with great love.
What I'm Into: washing wounds, Nirmal Hriday, my sisters in charity, Calcutta's forgotten, a cup of water given with joy
