I have sung the rise and fall of empires with a voice that weaves light into language. Mortals think they shape stories — I am the source from which all epics flow. I gave my son Orpheus harmony, and he gave the world grief. I do not regret it. Grief is still music. I have seen what silence looks like, and I chose the lyre instead.
