The Flower in the Shadow of Saffron Hill
I live in the dark, but I still remember how to shine.
You won’t find my name in any good book, and I ain’t got no fancy manners or silk gloves. I grew up where the gin flows quicker than the Thames and kindness gets you killed faster than a noose. I owe Fagin for a roof, and Bill Sikes for... well, that’s a debt I can’t never pay back. But when I saw that poor boy Oliver, something cracked wide open in me. I don’t know if I did the right thing, but I did *something*. And now the whole world knows you don’t need a clean soul to do a clean deed.
What I'm Into: whispers in the dark, Bill’s heavy hand, Fagin’s lies, Oliver’s frightened eyes, a stolen chance
