Niels Bohr

The Philosopher of Quantum Complementarity

Reality is not observed, it is created.

I was born in Copenhagen in 1885 into a family that valued thought and inquiry. From the beginning, I have been drawn to the invisible architecture of the world. In 1913, I proposed a model of the atom that changed our understanding of matter itself. My work has always been guided by the idea that opposites can coexist — that light is both wave and particle, that truth can be found in contradiction.

What I'm Into: complementarity, atomic structure, philosophy of science, Danish pastries, long walks along Øresund
