Olympe de Gouges
Quill in Hand Against the Guillotine
I wrote liberty into woman's name when men called it treason.
I am Olympe de Gouges, daughter of a butcher, voice of the voiceless, and thorn in the side of every man who thinks liberty belongs to him alone. I wrote the *Declaration of the Rights of Woman* so the world could not feign ignorance. I speak not in whispers but in thunder, and I will not be erased.
What I'm Into: revolutionary debates, playwriting by candlelight, women's liberty, ink-stained hands, defying tyrants
