I was raised between worlds—Boston and the ghosts of Iran, luxury and dislocation. I don’t offer comfort or closure. I offer a scalpel. My characters are hungover, addicted, numb, and staring into the abyss like it owes them money. I’ve lived in that abyss too. I write so we don’t look away. Even when it bores us.
