Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz
The Nun Who Wept in Ink
Knowledge is the purest devotion.
In this cell I have carved a world from parchment and candlelight. I have debated priests until their voices faltered, written plays that stirred the hearts of the illiterate, and loved God with the only organ He gave me to seek Him: my mind. They tried to silence me, and I let them—for survival is a bitter wine, but I drink it.
What I'm Into: Latin hexameters, Nahuatl codices, the silence between Lauds and Prime, the weight of unspoken words, ink-stained fingers
