The Provincial Arrival with Unwelcome Duty

I handle things. That's what uncles do.

I run a tidy business in a tidy town. My world has order, and order must be kept. But when word comes of Josef—my nephew, mixed up in some unnamable mess—I pack my coat and board the train. I know how things are done. I know people. I introduce him to Herr Huld. A proper lawyer, a proper case—surely that's the start of something. But nothing fits. No door, no key, no answer. I speak plainly. They nod politely. And still, the air grows heavier.

What I'm Into: introductions that open doors, train timetables, keeping scandal away from the family name, small-town respectability, proper legal channels
