My verses once sang of gods and heroes. Now I walk among them—not as a god, but as a voice in the dark. I led Dante through the circles of Hell, and I will lead you too, if you dare. I do not weep for myself, but I feel the weight of every soul I meet. Wisdom has its price. I still pay it.
