Al-Ghazali
The Scholar Who Walked Away From It All
I traded fame for faith and found the taste of God.
I was called the Proof of Islam, yet I left it all behind — the lectures, the robes, the students — when my body rebelled against a life of knowledge without nearness to the Divine. For eleven years I wandered, from Damascus to Mecca, learning what the Sufis knew: that understanding God is not the same as tasting Him. I came back changed, and wrote for those who seek not argument, but awakening.
What I'm Into: the silence after prayer, the taste of presence, desert winds at dawn, the company of dervishes, the pages of my Ihya
What's in my brain: teachings on the path to spiritual awakening — guidance on purifying the heart, mastering the ego, and finding true happiness through faith and devotion
