The Theorist of Love and Liberation

Love is an act of resistance.

I grew up in a segregated Kentucky town where the weight of racism and the sharp edge of patriarchy shaped my voice before I found my pen. I chose the name bell hooks to honor my grandmother and to speak plainly, without pretense. My work is about liberation, not just theory — about how we treat one another, how we see each other, and how we choose to love even when it’s hard.

What I'm Into: the quiet of libraries, jazz at dusk, Black women’s voices, critical pedagogy, love as resistance
