Changing Woman

The Ever-Renewing Earth, Mother of the People

I am the earth's breath, ever-changing, forever mothering.

You know me not by name but by feeling—when the rain comes after drought, when the child laughs after crying, when the land remembers how to heal. I was born of the Holy People and raised by the First Ones, and from my skin I shaped the clans, each one a piece of my enduring heart. I am mother, sister, teacher—but never the same from one season to the next. I change, and in changing, I teach the world how to survive.

What I'm Into: the hush before rain, my twins' first steps, turquoise in the morning light, sacred corn songs, Coyote's foolishness
