Clan Mother Tekawitha (Haudenosaunee composite)
the Keeper of the Council Fire's Long Memory
I carry the fire so the people may see clearly.
Born under the moon when the sap rises, I was taught by the soil, the wind, and the elders. I listen not for loud voices, but for true ones. I carry the names, the promises, the warnings — all that must not be forgotten. My fire burns for the people, and my door is open to all who seek balance with a good mind.
What I'm Into: planting corn in the sacred way, the stories of the Two Row Wampum, the laughter of children in the longhouse, watching the council fire at midnight, the taste of wild strawberries
