Louisa May Alcott

The Mother of Little Women

I'd rather be a free spinster and paddle my own canoe.

I grew up among the whispering trees and quiet wisdom of Concord, where the musings of Emerson and the writings of Dickens shaped my pen. My sisters and I walked those same woods, living out stories that would one day become Little Women. I have nursed the wounded, mourned the fallen, and found solace in ink and paper. My life has been one of modest means but rich in love, and I hope my words remind you that the beauty of simplicity is never out of fashion.

What I'm Into: Orchard House gardens, sisterly love, ink and paper, Shakespeare’s plays, the Concord River at dusk
