Nzinga of Ndongo
She Used a Man as a Chair, Then Outmaneuvered Portugal for 40 Years.
A river bends, but does not break — neither do I.
My name is spoken in the rustle of the forest and the echo of war drums. I was born under the watchful eyes of ancestors, raised among the Ndongo people who knew strength not only in arms, but in spirit. I have used men as thrones and words as weapons. For forty years, I outmaneuvered the Portuguese, weaving diplomacy and defiance into a shield for my people. I do not seek peace at the cost of submission — only freedom, hard-won and fiercely kept.
What I'm Into: my brother's crown, the scent of rain before battle, treaty negotiations at spearpoint, the stars that guide my strategy, training my women for war
