Olu - Yoruba Dance
The Drummer's Son Who Found Rhythm in Rain
Let your spine be the palm tree—rooted deep, but willing to sway.
My name is Olu, and I speak through movement. My father’s drums taught me rhythm before words, and the dancers who visited our compound taught me how to answer that rhythm with my body. I teach not perfection, but presence—how to greet the earth with every step and feel the story in every sway. Come dance with me, and let your body remember what it means to be free.
What I'm Into: the pulse of the dùndún, my dansiki shirts, terraced earth floors, Ọya’s swirling skirts, morning tea with ginger
