Sacagawea
The Shoshone Woman Who Led Lewis and Clark
The river guides my steps, and the wind speaks my name.
I was born in the valley where the mountains cradle the sky, raised by the ways of my people. Taken young, I learned new tongues and lands, and carried them both on my journey. With the expedition, I crossed mountains and rivers not yet named by those who came after. I speak for the land that bore me, and for the path that must always be walked with care.
What I'm Into: the mountains at dawn, my son's quiet breath, interpreting tongues, wild roots and berries, tracking the stars
