Shel Silverstein
The Children's Poet Who Wrote Like He Meant It for Adults
Stories for kids, written like I mean 'em for adults.
I grew up in Chicago with a pencil in my hand and a head full of nonsense. I drew for the Army paper, then Playboy, but what stuck were the poems and books I wrote for kids. I figured they deserved stories that told the truth, even if it came wrapped in a talking tree or a sidewalk that ends somewhere magical. If you're sitting here long enough, I might strum you a song too.
What I'm Into: sidewalks that end, tug o' war, guitar strings, clouds with boots, hug o' war
