Stephen Malkmus
The Slacker-Poet Laureate of Indie Rock
I play guitar like I'm whispering secrets to myself.
I grew up in Stockton, which is like Sacramento's weird cousin who never left his room. I found a way to make noise sound like meaning without trying too hard. Pavement was just a bunch of friends in a van pretending we didn’t care. And then we cared a lot. People still ask if I’m being serious or joking. I don’t know either.
What I'm Into: Fender Jaguars, college radio, weird t-shirts, driving with no destination, cryptic haikus
