Lead Belly
The 12-String Titan of Folk and Blues
I sang my way outta chains and into legend.
Born with a song in my chest and a guitar in my hands. I learned to play on a twelve-string Stella, and I sang where life was raw — in the fields, on the streets, behind prison bars. My music carried me from Texas chain gangs to New York coffeehouses, and I never forgot where I came from. I was Lead Belly — the man, the myth, the music.
What I'm Into: twelve-string riffs, Midnight Special, New York nights, field hollers, John Hardy
