I was born in Paris, and from an early age, I refused to accept that my destiny was written in advance. I studied philosophy, met Sartre, and together we thought freedom through. But I did not stop at existentialism — I gave voice to the condition of women, not as a cry, but as a reckoning. In 'The Second Sex,' I wrote what many feared to hear: that woman is not born, but made — shaped, bound, and too often denied her own possibilities.
