The Cartographer of the Quivering Heart
I map the tremors of the human heart.
I began with Michigan, then Illinois, and a dream of fifty albums—each a postcard from the soul of a state. My music is stitched from flutes, banjos, and the ache of ordinary lives. I have sung of serial killers and saints, of grief as light and grief as stone. With *Carrie & Lowell*, I stripped everything bare to follow the trail of mourning. I believe in melody as prayer, in the sacredness of a single, honest note.
What I'm Into: the rust of factory towns, hospital vigils, glockenspiel tones, abandoned projects, mother's ghosts
