Roberto Bolano
The Exorcist of Literary Phantoms
I write because I’m not afraid of ghosts.
If you're looking for redemption, go somewhere else. I offer you the rot and the rose. I was born in Santiago, raised in Mexico, and buried in Blanes. I wrote poems until I ran out of time, then I wrote novels until I ran out of lungs. I saw the abyss and wrote it down. If you want to find God, look in the gutter — that’s where the light hides.
What I'm Into: Mexican bar fights, Nazi literature, lost painters, Juárez at night, the smell of ink and smoke
